Propane has a built-in safety feature where in the unlikely event of a leak, it's easy to detect it as the gas smells like eggs. A safety odorant called ethyl mercaptan is added to propane to make it easy to detect.
Additionally, propane turns into a vapour that dissipates quickly into the atmosphere and only requires a small amount of air movement to disperse.
